*Subject:* In town pool report #5 -- quotes, details on National Prayer Breakfast

Speech was 14 mins., not 20 as previously reported.

It was the 66th annual National Prayer Breakfast. The program listed remarks of presidents going back to Eisenhower. Very much an interfaith event, with Rabbi Marvin Hier of the Simon Wiesenthal Center among the otherwise Christian speakers.

POTUS remarks (check against transcript):

We are strengthened by the power of prayer.

He greets Rep. Steve Scalise, recites Biblical passage(quoting Jesus) with God all things are possible.

Each year this event reminds us that faith is central to American life and liberty.

POTUS goes over how creator mentioned four timers in Declaration of Independence. US currency declares In God We Trust. Pledge of Alleigance: one nation, under God.

Our rights are not given to us by man, our rights come from our Creator.

Today we praise God for how truly blessed we are to be American.

We see Lords grace all around us, for a million acts of kindness, courage and generosity.

Cites moms and dads working 2-3 jobs so children will have prosperous future, first responders in disasters (hurricanes and wild fires), firefighters, police, families that adopt.

And particularly praises uniformed personnel who have spent long months away from home defending our great.American.flag. (Used customary dramatic pauses between last 3 words.)
On ISIS: Coalition has liberated almost 100% of the territory just recently held by these killers in Iraq and Syria.

On the North Korea defector who was at the SOTU: There was one thing that kept him from losing hope. Over and over again he recited the Lords Prayer.

Now he is a symbol of hope all around the world.

Also told story of Sophia Campa Peters, 9 year old girl from Texas mentioned in previous pool report. (Note correct name spelling in this report.)

She was suffering from a rare disorder involving among, other things, narrowing of blood vessels in brain.

Per Google, POTUS issued a call (via Sarah Huckabee Sanders) to pray for her as she underwent surgery. The surgery in Boston was a success and Sophia can now walk.

Sophia stood on a chair with her Moms help at the front, facing the audience as they cheered.

You may be only 9 years old but you are already a hero to everyone in this room.
