Subject: Local pool report #5 / Flextronics remarks

Following the Flextronics tour, the president said he “greatly respects” Apple CEO Tim Cook. Only sending over Texas-related items:

“This is a very special day,” the president said. “I love Texas.”

“When you build in the United States, you don’t have to worry about tariffs,” he continued. “We’re honored that you’re doing what you’re doing.”

U.S. Reps. Bill Flores and John Carter listened nearby.

Cook said the Mac Pro can perform 56 trillion tasks per second and called it an “example of American design and American manufacturing.”

When asked if Apple should receive tariff exemptions, the president said “We’ll look into that.”

“We have to treat Apple on a somewhat similar basis as we treat Samsung,” he said.
