*Subject:**Out-of-town pool #5 Trump speech highlights*
Trump came out to the stage to "God Bless the USA" at Greenbrier and took a victory lap for what he called "one of the greatest years in the history of politics."
The president talked about some of the same issues he brought up at SOTU lowering prescription drug prices, trade, infrastructure, immigration.
Some highlights from the speech below (please cross-check with transcript):
On SOTU: "Tuesday was an incredible evening as we were all inspired. And I really mean that."
On 2017 accomplishments: "That was one of the greatest years in the history of politics...we had a year that was unlike I think any.I certainly give the people behind me tremendous credit."
"We've fulfilled more promises than we promised."
On a recent call with Speaker Paul Ryan: "He said to me he's never ever seen the Republican Party so united. But literally the word 'united' is what he used...There is a great coming together that I don't think either party has seen for many many years.
On Democrats: "They'd rather see us not do well than see our country do well. And that's not good. That's not good. They need to change."
"If the opposing party had won the election, you would have new rules
The stock market in my opinion would have gone down 50%. They were stifling it."
On Pelosi's "crumbs" comment: Trump talked about how families in West Virginia would benefit from tax reform. "That's not crumbs. That's a lot of money."
On Sen. Orrin Hatch: "I love this guy." Brought up how Hatch has called him the greatest Republican president of his lifetime. Some other lawmakers to get shoutouts were Sen. Tim Scott, Rep. Kevin Brady, and the Alaska delegation.
On 2018: "'18 is going to be very interesting...If we win more, we won't have to compromise as much." "If we're united and work together for the good of the nation...we've really fulfilled a solemn promise."
On DACA/immigration: "I said the other night. We have Dreamers in our country too." He said Democrats need to support their framework to protect Dreamers. "They talk like they do. But I don't think they do. We're going to find out soon."
"We're either going to have something that's fair and equitable, or we're going to have nothing at all."
Trump advisers in the crowd (spotted by supplemental pooler Politico's Nancy Cook): Gary Cohn, Marc Short, Don McGahn, John Kelly, and Kellyanne Conway.
Republicans gathered here were just finishing up their lunch in a big ball room with a lot of pink and gold wall paper. A few babies and toddlers were also in the crowd.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker Paul Ryan introduced the president and the entire GOP leadership team was on stage.
McConnell thanked the president for Neil Gorsuch being on the Supreme Court bench, his circuit judge appointments and tax reform. Oklahoma Sen. James Lankford opened with a prayer.
