POTUS entered the East Room at 12:15, wearing a red tie and dark suit. Shortly after he began speaking, he addressed immigration.
POTUS said hell say very strongly the situation with immigration is the Democrats fault, but cited the importance of Border security.
The United States will not be a migrant camp and it will not be a refugee holding facility, POTUS said.
Not on my watch, POTUS added.
POTUS said Democrats should come to the table to come to an agreement on immigration legislation.
If the Democrats would sit down instead of obstructing, we could have something very quickly, POTUS said.
POTUS said the United States has horrible laws for immigration, citing family separation as something thats so sad.
We have the worst immigration laws in the entire world, POTUS said.
Coming off of remarks in which he said the world is watching U.S. economic growth, POTUS said a legislative change would be maybe something for the world to watch as well.
But POTUS added, A county without borders is not a country at all. People coming into the country are bringing death and destruction, POTUS said.
They are thieves and murderers and so much else, POTUS said, eliciting applause from the audience.
More to come on meeting...
