*Subject:* *Travel #8: POTUS/FLOTUS meet Queen Elizabeth II*
At 5 p.m., POTUS and FLOTUS pulled into Windsor Castle in a Range Rover driven by two officials, unclear if they were British or American.
In the past, Prince Philip, the queens 97-year-old husband, has escorted first couples into the castle this way, but he was not in sight today. No other headlining royals were present.
The Queen, 92, stood alone to greet the first couple. She wore a royal blue skirt suit and clutched a black handbag. Once she took her place on the dais the guard played the UK national anthem.
POTUS and FLOTUS (in a pale pink Dior suit, says the eagle eyed Kate Bennett of CNN) approached the queen on the dais, who extended her hand to both.
After a couple of quick handshakes, the president and First Lady stood for the US national anthem, hands over their hearts.
Then POTUS left the First Lady behind as he took a slow moving walk around the quadrangle to inspect the royal guard with the queen.
When the two reached the dais again, the queen appeared to shift her position from between the first couple to the side of them. It is unclear why.
They are now inside for tea with the queen.
Forecast update: My dark sky app alerted me at 5 pm to say a drizzle was on the way. Didnt happen.
Much more color to follow.
Pool is being herded/shoved out of quadrangle. Pool heloing to Stansted next stop Scotland, scheduled departure 6:40 pm.
