Air Force One was wheels down at Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii at 12:56pm local (6:56 est) after about a 9.5 hr flight.

POTUS spoke to reporters on the plane for less than two minutes, about an hour into the trip. Very important trip. Very important, he said.

Asked why he decided to extend the trip an extra day: Were staying an extra day, because the following day is actually the most important day.

POTUS said he had planned to spend a day in Hawaii at the end of the trip, but canceled that plan. Instead, hell stay longer at ASEAN in the Philippines, which follows the APEC conference in Vietnam.

Im going to spend the extra day at the second conference, which is a very important conference, he said.

Just have a good time everybody. Well do a good job, he said. As citizens, we will represent you well. Ok? As reporters, I dont know. But as citizens, definitely. Have a good time. Nice to see you.

The president participates in a briefing at Pacific Command this afternoon/evening and are scheduled to tour the USS Arizona Memorial at 5:25pm local.
