Subject: Travel pool report 4: Chiba departure

Chiba, Japan

After his round of golf, POTUS lifted off from the Mobara country club grounds at 12:53 pm. While he was on the course, he (or someone with access to the presidential Twitter account) corrected an earlier tweet mocking Joe Biden - the former vp’s name is now spelled correctly.

Pool was kept a long distance away from Marine One as he lifted - officials cited a safety issue with being close as he took off - so visual details of the departure are scant. Your pooler did glimpse POTUS, still clad in his red pullover in the 87-degree heat, board M1 with a wave.

Pool will follow behind in a Chinook to the landing zone in Tokyo. POTUS is then scheduled to spend some time at his hotel, where the President’s Cup is on display, before departing for a sumo event later in the day.
